Nvidia’s latest AI chip for China, the RTX6000D, has seen weak demand as some major tech firms have declined to order it, according to sources familiar with procurement discussions.

The RTX6000D, designed for AI inference, is considered costly for its performance by prospective buyers.

Sources said the chip’s performance is lower than the RTX5090, which is banned for sale in China but available on the grey market at less than half the RTX6000D’s price of around 50,000 yuan (US$7,000).

Chinese tech giants like Alibaba, Tencent, and ByteDance are waiting for clarity on shipments of Nvidia’s H20 chip, which recently regained approval for sale in China but has not yet shipped.

These companies are also monitoring whether the more powerful B30A chip will be approved by US authorities.
