Proxima, a US-based biotech firm focused on AI-driven drug discovery for proximity-based therapeutics, has raised US$80 million in seed funding led by DCVC.

The round saw participation from NVentures (Nvidia’s venture capital arm), Braidwell, Roivant, AIX Ventures, Yosemite, Magnetic Ventures, Alexandria Venture Investments, Modi Ventures, and other investors.

Proxima, formerly known as VantAI, will use the funds to develop technology and data infrastructure for proximity-based medicines, which aim to control protein-protein interactions.

The company is developing a platform that combines large-scale structural data on protein complexes with AI models to discover new small-molecule drugs.

Proxima has signed research collaborations with several biopharmaceutical companies, including Johnson & Johnson, Bristol Myers Squibb, and Blueprint Medicines.
