Firmus, a Sydney-based AI infrastructure company that builds and operates AI factories and graphics processing unit cloud services, said on August 7 that it had secured full commitments for a US$2 billion strategic equity round.

The round includes existing backers Coatue and Nvidia, as well as funds managed by Blackstone Tactical Opportunities and other Blackstone vehicles, and Jane Street.

Firmus said the funding will accelerate its AI factory expansion across Australia and Asia-Pacific.

The capital will fund the next phase of Project Southgate in Australia and support early expansion work in markets including Indonesia.

Project Southgate’s first stages are already under construction in Tasmania and Melbourne.

Firmus previously said the project is planned to reach up to 150 megawatts, representing 54,000 GB300 systems, by mid-2026.

Firmus said its infrastructure is based on Nvidia’s DSX, a full-stack blueprint for designing, building, and operating AI factories across compute, networking, storage, software, and facilities.

The company said the round brings its total new equity raised over the past year to more than US$3 billion, with its post-money valuation now above US$10.5 billion.
