Nvidia to keep sponsoring H-1B visas despite $100k fee, CEO says
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang told employees that the company will continue to sponsor H-1B visas and cover all related costs, despite a new US executive order setting a US$100,000 fee per new application.
The message came after President Donald Trump’s order raised concerns among tech workers, especially from India and China.
Huang, himself an immigrant, said Nvidia’s success relies on talent from around the world.
He emphasized that legal immigration is important for maintaining US leadership in technology.
Nvidia, like other chipmakers, employs many international workers.
Huang said the US$100,000 fee is high but could serve as a benchmark for US immigration policy, while acknowledging it may set the bar too high.
He also noted that the fee aims to curb illegal immigration.
