Nvidia in talks to invest $10b in Anthropic IPO: sources
Anthropic, the San Francisco AI startup behind Claude, is in talks to bring Nvidia in as an anchor investor for what could be the largest initial public offering in history, according to two people familiar with the matter.
Anthropic is seeking to raise as much as US$100 billion in the offering, which could value the company at about US$2 trillion.
Nvidia is considering investing up to US$10 billion, the people said.
Anthropic raised US$65 billion in May at a US$965 billion post-money valuation.
The listing is expected to complete before the US midterm elections in November, the people said.
Anchor investors typically commit early to buy a set portion of an initial public offering before it is marketed more broadly, helping validate the share sale.
Nvidia’s potential involvement would deepen its ties with Anthropic.
Anthropic relies heavily on Nvidia graphics processing units, while also seeking to diversify chip suppliers, as demand for Claude has strained the startup’s computing capacity.
