Nvidia is in talks to provide about US$250 billion in guarantees for OpenAI as part of a large data center project in southern Ohio, according to a July 26 report.

The backing would help OpenAI lease a 10-gigawatt facility being developed by SoftBank’s energy subsidiary, SB Energy.

The site was not named, but the description matches a proposed 10-gigawatt campus in Pike County, at the former Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant site in Piketon.

SB Energy would fund and operate the project.

The project has not been publicly identified as a Stargate site.

In public information, Lordstown is the only Ohio location named under Stargate, although the OpenAI, SoftBank, Oracle, and MGX venture has said it aims to build 10 gigawatts of US AI capacity by 2029.
