Nvidia plans to open a new office site in Taipei
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced on May 19, 2025 that the company will establish a new office, Nvidia Constellation, in Beitou Shilin Science Park, Taipei. This announcement was made during Huang’s keynote speech at Computex in Taipei.
The new office will be constructed on two plots of land, referred to as “T17” and “T18,” covering 3.89 hectares in the science park. Huang said that the company has outgrown its current office space in Taiwan due to an increasing number of engineers.
Huang also mentioned that he has communicated Nvidia’s plans to Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an. The project will require the mayor’s approval to transfer the lease from the site’s current tenant.
“We’re going to start building as soon as we can,” Huang said. Further details regarding the timeline and specifics of the project were not disclosed.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Taiwan’s expanding role in Nvidia’s global AI strategy
Nvidia’s “Constellation” office announcement builds on a significant relationship that has been deepening for years beyond just manufacturing partnerships.
In January 2025, Nvidia announced plans to establish its Asian headquarters in Taipei, signaling Taiwan’s strategic importance in their operations and the broader semiconductor ecosystem 1.
Jensen Huang has laid out ambitious plans to recruit 1,000 engineers in Taiwan over the next five years while establishing a major design center, elevating Taiwan from primarily a manufacturing base to a critical R&D hub 2.
This expansion comes alongside Nvidia’s plan to build Taiwan’s first AI supercomputer in collaboration with Foxconn and TSMC, further cementing the island’s position in Nvidia’s AI infrastructure development 3.
The Beitou Shilin office represents a spatial expansion that mirrors Nvidia’s evolving business strategy, moving from relying on Taiwan primarily for manufacturing to incorporating it into core research, design, and AI development activities.
2️⃣ Strategic clustering in Taiwan’s semiconductor ecosystem
Nvidia’s choice of Beitou Shilin Science Park places it within Taiwan’s dense network of semiconductor expertise, where proximity drives innovation and business advantages.
Taiwan’s semiconductor industry represents 20% of the global market (valued at $115 billion), with TSMC alone holding 61% of the global foundry market share—making geographic proximity to these partners increasingly valuable 4.
This clustering effect is evident in TSMC’s own strategy, as they recently affirmed their commitment to Taiwan with plans for a new domestic fab despite ongoing overseas expansion 5.
