Nvidia plans $2.7b UK AI investment in partnership with VCs

Nvidia plans to invest £2 billion (US$2.7 billion) to support the UK’s AI sector, working with VC firms including Accel, Air Street Capital, Balderton Capital, Hoxton Ventures, and Phoenix Court.

The chipmaker will allocate capital to UK startups and researchers, with funding sourced from its balance sheet.

Nvidia’s investment includes a £500 million (US$650 million) equity stake in AI data center company Nscale and a US$500 million investment in autonomous vehicle technology firm Wayve.

Other UK firms receiving backing include Oxa, Revolut, PolyAI, Synthesia, Latent Labs, and Basecamp Research.

Nvidia said the investments will be managed in the US but used to provide resources and funding to UK AI initiatives.

VC partners will help Nvidia identify startups, though they are not required to co-invest.
