Nvidia to partner with Korean manufacturers on robotics
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said in South Korea on June 5 that he sees robotics as the country’s next big industry.
He added that Nvidia will partner with Korean manufacturing companies on robotics and AI.
Speaking to reporters at Gimpo Airport after arriving from Taiwan, Huang said he had meetings scheduled with Hyundai, LG, SK, Samsung, and Naver during the trip.
Huang said South Korea’s manufacturing base makes it well suited for robotics and AI.
He added that semiconductor manufacturing will increasingly rely on robotics and AI, opening partnership opportunities with South Korean chipmakers.
South Korea already has 1,220 robots per 10,000 manufacturing workers, the highest robot density in the world, according to the International Federation of Robotics.
The comments also align with Seoul’s more than US$2.24 billion robotics plan through 2030, which aims to expand robot deployment and increase the local manufacturing share of core robot parts.
