Nvidia to overtake Apple in LPDDR use: researchers

Hana Securities and Citrini Research expect Nvidia to become the largest user of low-power DRAM in 2027.

They said demand from AI servers could lift Nvidia’s LPDDR usage above the combined capacity of Samsung Electronics and Apple.

The analysts estimate Nvidia’s LPDDR capacity will rise from 3.144 billion GB in 2026 to 6.041 billion GB in 2027.

That would exceed the estimated capacities of Apple at 2.966 billion GB and Samsung Electronics at 2.724 billion GB, with Nvidia accounting for 36% of total supply.

LPDDR has mainly been used in smartphones and laptops, but analysts said AI servers are becoming a larger source of demand.

They said newer systems such as Nvidia’s Vera Rubin use significantly more of the memory, which could tighten supply and raise prices for other devices.
