Nvidia eyes lead in AI startup Simplismart’s $20m round
Nvidia is in advanced talks to lead a US$20 million funding round in Simplismart, an AI infrastructure startup with offices in Bengaluru and San Francisco, at about a US$100 million valuation as the chipmaker expands its India AI push.
Existing backer Accel is also expected to join the round, and at least one new investor may participate.
Founded in 2022 by former Oracle and Google engineers Amritanshu Jain and Devansh Ghatak, Simplismart builds tools for companies to deploy and manage AI models, and the reported valuation is about four times the US$25 million level from its US$7 million raise in October 2024.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
The investment could deepen an existing alliance to optimize AI inference
- Simplismart says its platform sits above NVIDIA infrastructure as an abstraction and orchestration layer. In practice, it helps companies run and coordinate AI systems across NVIDIA-based computing resources 1.
- It works with NVIDIA Inference Microservices (NIM), software tools from NVIDIA that let enterprises deploy containerized AI models as managed production endpoints 2.
- The tie-up helps teams balance response speed, processing volume, and spending when they run AI in production 1.
- The relationship started when Simplismart joined NVIDIA’s Inception Program for startups, which suggests the companies had technical alignment before the funding talks 3.
Nvidia is building a software moat around its hardware empire
- The deal would help NVIDIA shore up its ecosystem against Amazon and Google, large cloud providers that also design chips and software platforms.
- Backing products like Simplismart could make NVIDIA hardware simpler for enterprises to use. That matters as companies move from AI pilots to wider deployment, where governance and predictable costs matter more 1.
- It also speaks to a broader shift in enterprise AI. Many companies are moving away from third-party model application programming interfaces (APIs) to limit vendor lock-in and handle data compliance risk 4.
- The talks come as NVIDIA grows its presence in India’s AI market through cloud partnerships, startup work, and investments 2.
