Nvidia CEO: US-China tech rivalry could benefit both sides

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said that allowing US firms to compete in China would benefit both countries, as Chinese companies develop domestic alternatives to Nvidia’s chips.

Speaking on the BG2 podcast, Huang noted China’s rapid progress in chipmaking, large talent pool, and competitive industry landscape.

He said US technology firms should be able to compete globally, including in China, to help maximize the US’s economic and geopolitical standing.

Nvidia’s sales to China, a key market, have been disrupted by US export restrictions, though some shipments resumed after new levies were agreed.

Nvidia’s shares have surged 62% in the past six months, with its market cap reaching US$4.3 trillion.
