Nvidia CEO says AI stock sell-off is a buying chance
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said on June 8 that the sell-off in AI-linked tech shares was a buying opportunity. He told reporters in Seoul that spending on AI infrastructure remains in its early stages.
South Korea’s Kospi fell as investors cut exposure to AI-linked stocks.
The broader pullback also left one software exchange-traded fund down 22%.
Investors have been concerned about AI disruption and high valuations.
Nvidia and SK hynix, a South Korean memory chipmaker, also said they had struck a multi-year agreement to design future generations of memory chips for AI.
SK hynix is a leading supplier of high-bandwidth memory for Nvidia AI systems.
Counterpoint estimated the company held 57% of high-bandwidth memory revenue in a recent quarter.
SK hynix shares later trimmed losses after President Lee Jae Myung said South Korea’s stock market remained undervalued.
Huang said, “We’re at the beginning of it,” adding that AI will become global infrastructure, much like the internet did.
