Firmus Technologies, an Australian AI infrastructure startup, said it will develop its first Indonesia data center project in Batam with Singapore-based data center operator DayOne under an eight-year partnership with Nvidia.

The 360-megawatt campus is due to go live in the first quarter of 2027.

Co-CEO Tim Rosenfield said the Batam site will serve AI-native customers rather than hyperscalers, or the largest cloud computing companies.

Firmus said its revenue-sharing and credit-support agreement with Nvidia covers infrastructure access for as many as 170,000 AI accelerator chips in 2027 and 2028, with expected committed offtake worth US$25 billion to US$30 billion over the partnership’s first six years.

Batam has emerged as a data center location partly because it sits 20 kilometers from Singapore, has submarine cable connectivity, and is home to the Nongsa Special Economic Zone, which offers tax incentives and more flexible siting rules.

DayOne already has a 72 MW Batam campus planned at Nongsa Digital Park, while another Batam project secured a 450 MW power supply agreement, signaling support for large-scale deployments.

Firmus’s campus would be one of Indonesia’s largest announced data center projects.

For comparison, the country’s largest built facility is 36 MW, while Digital Edge has announced a 500 MW campus in Bekasi.
