🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Graphite’s $52M Series B and a platform still finding its footing in AI code review
- Graphite raised $52 million in Series B funding led by Accel, and says revenue grew 20x in 2024 1. The team had about 30 employees, which fits an early-stage phase 1.
- The startup counts ‘tens of thousands of engineers at more than 500 companies’ including Shopify and Snowflake plus Figma and Perplexity 1. Rivals include GitHub Copilot and Codeium (an AI coding assistant) plus CodeRabbit (an AI code review bot) 1.
- Earlier this year, the company made its core code review product free for all team sizes 1. That move can speed signups but can squeeze revenue against established rivals.
Paths for third-party developers on Graphite’s Linear, Jira, and Slack integrations
- Graphite connects to Linear (a project management tool for software teams), Jira (issue tracking software), and Slack (workplace messaging) for issue linking and notifications 23.
- Its integrations center on GitHub pull requests (code change proposals) with project tools like Linear or Jira 32.
- Cursor is exploring product integrations in the coming months. Tools for code context, review automation, or Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) upgrades can put builders between the two platforms before native links arrive.
