NTT Data plans 5,000 hires, new data centers in India
NTT Data, a Japanese IT services company, plans to add 5,000 employees in India this year across software, consulting, and IT support roles, Sudhir Chaturvedi, CEO of North America and chief growth officer, told Reuters.
The company, a subsidiary of NTT Group, currently employs about 40,000 in India and is building out four data centers as part of a US$1.5 billion investment.
According to ratings agency ICRA, India hosts 20% of the world’s data but has less than 6% of global data center capacity.
Global and local firms are increasingly looking to boost data center capacity in India.
The government has granted a tax holiday for foreign companies using local data centers, Reuters reported.
Chaturvedi also noted that client technology budgets are expected to grow 7% to 9% this year, driven by investments beyond AI, compared to 6% to 7% last year.
