NTT Data, HTX team up on AI forensics lab

NTT Data and HTX, Singapore’s Home Team Science and Technology Agency under the Ministry of Home Affairs, signed an MoU on May 12 at Milipol TechX Summit 2026 to co-develop AI tools for frontline operations and a cloud-based digital forensics and malware lab.

The partnership will also cover advanced networking, sustainable technology adoption, and AI automation for workflows including fraud detection and pre-payment checks.

NTT Data and HTX said the work is meant to improve threat detection, live incident response, and investigation speed as scam losses in Singapore topped S$913 million (US$720 million) in 2025.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

The partnership suggests a different approach to government security

  • HTX, Singapore’s Home Team Science and Technology Agency, is working with NTT DATA, a Japan-based IT services firm. The deal suggests a practical approach that brings in outside specialists for urgent security work instead of relying only on internal teams.
  • Singapore plans to build a “cloud-based” lab for digital forensics. That moves some sensitive security work away from traditional on-premise systems and toward infrastructure that can adapt faster as threats change.

The project could help shape a new market for government tech

  • This public-private setup could serve as a model for countries facing a rise in digital crime. It gives agencies a way to roll out tools faster by working with specialist tech firms on pressing security problems.
  • The effort could also support growth in “GovTech-as-a-Service,” where IT firms provide ready-made, AI-powered security platforms to public agencies. That could lead to more consistent tools for tackling cross-border online fraud.
