South Korean AI software firm Nota AI, which develops AI model lightweighting and optimization technology, said on June 23 it signed a memorandum of understanding with LG CNS.

The companies plan to commercialize real-time AI-based intelligent transportation system technology for overseas infrastructure projects. The companies identified the Americas as a target market.

They plan to combine Nota AI’s edge-based video analysis technology with LG CNS’s smart-city platform for traffic-flow analysis, unexpected-situation detection, and other traffic-management functions.

The partnership builds on earlier work in Nairobi, where Nota AI supplied its Smart Intersection System for an ITS project linked to a Traffic Control Center initiative jointly led by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority and LG CNS.

The Smart Intersection System processes closed-circuit television feeds on edge devices to classify vehicle types and analyze traffic volume and queue length in real time, reducing reliance on central servers.

LG CNS also said it would deploy its Cityhub Building platform and integrated control system in Hogansville, Georgia, in what the company described as its first smart-city infrastructure project with a US government agency.
