Nokia to invest $4b on US R&D, AI-ready networks

Nokia will invest US$4 billion over several years to expand its US research, development, and manufacturing for AI-ready network technologies.

The plan includes about US$3.5 billion for R&D and US$500 million for capital expenditures in states such as Texas, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

This follows Nokia’s earlier US$2.3 billion US investment, which included its acquisition of Infinera.

The latest investment will support work on mobile, fixed access, IP, optical networking, data center, and defense solutions.

Nokia also noted that Infinera had previously announced a US$456 million investment for two US manufacturing sites with CHIPS Act incentives.
