Nio overhauls sub-brand Onvo EV leadership

Electric vehicle maker Nio has announced leadership changes at its mass-market brand Onvo to address slow sales and improve operational efficiency. Alan Ai Tiecheng steps down as president of Onvo and as a senior vice president at Nio.

In a statement on Onvo’s app, Ai noted that sales of the electric SUV Onvo L60 had not met expectations.

Nio has appointed Fei Shen, formerly head of Nio energy business, as the new president of Onvo. Shen, who joined Nio in 2015, will oversee Onvo’s sales and regional operations and report to Nio co-founder and president Lihong Qin.

As part of the restructuring, Onvo’s research and development, supply chain, and quality teams will report directly to Nio CEO William Li. The brand’s marketing division will report to Qin. Both Li and Qin are expected to take a more active role in guiding Onvo and optimizing Nio’s resources.

A source familiar with the situation indicated that these changes aim to improve Onvo’s sales performance and streamline operations as Nio seeks profitability by the fourth quarter of 2025.
