Nintendo has set up a wholly owned subsidiary in Singapore to expand its business in Southeast Asia.

The new entity, Nintendo Singapore Pte. Ltd., was founded on September 26 and is led by managing director Takahiro Miura.

Nintendo, based in Japan, contributed S$8 million (US$5.9 million) in capital to the subsidiary.

The company said it is also considering establishing a local entity in Thailand.
