Nexus Venture leads $4.8m round for regulatory startup Zango
Zango, a regulatory compliance startup based in London and Bengaluru, has raised US$4.8 million in a seed funding round.
Nexus Venture Partners led the round, with participation from South Park Commons, Richard Davies (CEO of Allica Bank), Alan Morgan (Senior Partner at McKinsey), Mark Ransford of Notion Capital, No Label Ventures, and Start Ventures.
The funding will enable Zango to expand its teams in London and Bengaluru. It will also help develop new modules for its AI-driven governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platform.
The company plans to extend its services beyond banking to sectors such as insurance and asset management.
Founded in 2024 by Ritesh Singhania and Shashank Agarwal, Zango aims to simplify regulatory processes for financial institutions.
The company operates globally, with offices in London, San Francisco, and Bengaluru.
Zango’s platform uses AI to assist with regulatory compliance by automating tasks like horizon scanning and compliance gap identification.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ The costly reality driving RegTech innovation
Financial regulations have become overwhelmingly complex, creating a massive operational burden that’s ripe for technological disruption.
By 2013, U.S. compliance costs had already reached $112 billion and required 157 million man-hours of paperwork, numbers that have only grown with expanding regulations like GDPR and Dodd-Frank 1.
This regulatory burden has triggered substantial investment in the RegTech sector, with funding tripling to over $4.5 billion by 2018 as companies seek more efficient compliance solutions 2.
Zango’s focus on automating regulatory horizon scanning directly addresses one of the most time-consuming aspects of compliance, exemplified by their reduction of a regulatory workflow from 48 hours to under 4 hours.
The sheer volume of financial regulations, spanning “tens of thousands of pages” as noted in the article, creates natural inefficiencies that AI is uniquely positioned to solve through pattern recognition and automated processing.
