Nexus Venture joins $30m series C in Indian quick-service app Snabbit

Snabbit, a Bengaluru-based platform for on-demand home services, has raised US$30 million in a series C round led by Bertelsmann India Investments.

Existing investors Lightspeed, Elevation Capital, and Nexus Venture Partners also joined the round, bringing Snabbit’s total funding to US$55 million since its 2024 launch.

Snabbit operates in five major Indian cities and connects households with workers for tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and kitchen prep.

The company plans to expand into additional service categories, including cooks and babycare, and enter more micro-markets.

Snabbit recently moved its headquarters to Bengaluru.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Snabbit’s move into cooking, childcare brings new trust and regulatory hurdles

  • Shifting from cleaning into high-trust work like cooking and childcare adds extra rules as it grows.
  • Cooking needs kitchen hygiene rules plus possible food safety training. Childcare needs strict background checks, police verification, and possibly liability insurance. Agencies put these steps at 7–15 days 1.
  • Millow, a background-check provider, uses National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data to put the number at about 700 crimes each year involving domestic workers 2. Citizen Matters, a Bengaluru-focused civic news outlet, reports a 20% rise in thefts tied to domestic help in Bengaluru versus 2023 3.
  • Cooking or childcare raises legal risk along with reputational risk if incidents happen. Snabbit may need stronger vetting than its 10-minute fulfillment model can handle 4.

Background verification providers can ride the instant home services boom

  • Snabbit grew from 25,000 to over 300,000 customers in five months 4. The push into high-trust work creates new demand for faster verification than 7–15 day flows allow 1.
  • Software and verification-tech teams can build checks with police clearance, references, plus health screens in 24–48 hours. That speed fits platforms onboarding thousands of workers weekly.
  • VerifyKaro, a background verification firm, puts police registration for domestic staff in India at under 10% 5. Firms that route checks through digital portals such as Karnataka’s Seva Sindhu, the state government’s online services portal 3, can reach markets most players miss.
  • Investors can back firms with automated checks, faster turnarounds, plus liability cover bundles. Snabbit’s daily jobs grew 10x in five months 4.
