Naver said on May 28 it will invest 1 trillion won (US$670 million) over five years to support its content ecosystem in the AI era and open its AI Tab search service to all users in June.

The plan includes Naver Mate, a new creator fellowship program that will start in beta in June and recognize 3,000 creators each month across services including Blog, Cafe, Knowledge iN, and Premium Content.

Selected creators will receive support funds ranging from 300,000 won (US$200) to 10 million won (US$6,700) per person.

Naver’s AI Tab is conversational search service that combines information from Naver services and user-generated content.

The feature drew more than 3 million users during its beta phase.

The broader push comes as Naver stepped up spending on AI infrastructure.

Naver remains South Korea’s search leader, with an average 62.86% market share in 2025 vs. Google’s 29.55%, based on InternetTrend data.
