Naver gains search share after AI search rollout

South Korea’s Naver, best known for its search platform, said its average domestic search share rose to 66.34% from 63.82%. The increase followed the beta-released AI Tab for Naver Plus Membership users on April 27.

Naver cited Internet Trend data showing its search share hit 81.34% on May 24 and topped 70% on 14 days between April 27 and June 17.

Naver said AI Tab surpassed 3 million monthly active users within a month. It plans to officially launch the service at the end of June, expand it to all users, and make it easier to access on the mobile search home screen.

It also aims to expand AI Briefing to cover about 40% of search queries by year-end.

The update comes as Google launched Gemini in Chrome in Korea. Internet Trend data put Naver at 63.83% and Google at 28.67% in early 2026.

Naver also said it would test ads in AI Briefing in the second quarter.
