MyFitnessPal acquires meal-planning startup Intent

A calorie-tracking app based in Austin, MyFitnessPal, confirmed its 2024 acquisition of meal-planning startup Intent, though financial details were not disclosed.

Intent’s technology has been integrated to offer personalized meal plans based on allergens, calorie goals, and dietary preferences.

A new US$99.99 annual subscription, “Premium Plus,” will launch in late spring 2025 across six countries, with a waitlist now open.

With 270 million users, MyFitnessPal aims to enhance meal planning, marking its first acquisition since Francisco Partners bought it for US$345 million in 2020.
