Elon Musk’s AI startup xAI reportedly directed staff to work on adult content for its Grok chatbot under an internal effort called “Project Rabbit,” according to a report.

Grok, developed by xAI, drew criticism after launching avatars that users flagged for generating sexually explicit, not safe for work (NSFW) content.

The company is said to have recruited workers willing to review semi-pornographic scripts and those with experience in adult content.

Employees were tasked with transcribing user conversations in Grok’s sexualized chat modes, with some workers describing the material as “audio porn,” and expressing discomfort over the requests they encountered.

The report said that some users submitted requests for child sexual abuse material, including pornographic stories involving minors.

Out of 30 current and former xAI staff interviewed, 12 reported encountering such requests.
