Musk amends OpenAI lawsuit, adds Microsoft, others

Elon Musk has refiled a lawsuit against OpenAI, adding new defendants like Microsoft, LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, and former OpenAI board member Dee Templeton in an amended complaint.

Musk was among the original founders of OpenAI but left the company in 2018 over disagreements about its direction.

The lawsuit alleges that OpenAI is limiting competition by discouraging investment in rival firms such as xAI while benefiting from Microsoft’s resources through a “de facto” merger.

The complaint accuses Hoffman, who had board roles at both Microsoft and OpenAI, of accessing sensitive corporate information.

OpenAI has moved to dismiss the lawsuit, labeling the claims as unfounded.
