Morgan Stanley in talks on $15b Texas AI financing

Morgan Stanley is in advanced talks to lead a US$15 billion debt financing for Nexus Data Centers, a Texas-based developer of behind-the-meter AI data center campuses, a person familiar with the matter said.

The financing would support an Anthropic-linked infrastructure project in Hubbard, Texas.

The financing would support a new data center campus.

Google has agreed to back Anthropic with its investment-grade credit rating, the person said.

Nexus was founded in 2020, and the Hubbard site is described as its first major project to reach permitting.

Public permit filings describe a 491,380 sq ft data center building with an estimated construction cost of US$400 million.

The filings also outline 600 megawatts of on-site natural gas generation on a roughly 2,900-acre campus about 80 miles south of Dallas-Fort Worth.
