Morgan Stanley seen as leading candidate for SpaceX IPO: sources
Morgan Stanley is seen as the leading candidate to manage SpaceX’s upcoming IPO, competing with Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan, though no final decision has been made.
The bank has longstanding ties to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. SpaceX is reportedly preparing for a public listing as early as 2026, with timing and valuation depending on market conditions.
A staff memo from the CFO said a public offering could raise significant capital if markets are favorable.
The IPO could include SpaceX’s rocket launch business and its Starlink satellite internet division, though plans may change.
Funds from the IPO are expected to support projects such as the Starship rocket, new AI data centers in space, and a planned lunar base.
SpaceX also holds a US$4 billion NASA contract for Starship to land astronauts on the Moon.
