Microsoft-backed AI firm Armada raises $131m for AI data center

San Francisco-based startup Armada has raised US$131 million in a funding round to expand its AI data center operations.

The investment round included Pinegrove Capital Partners, Veriten, and Glade Brook Capital Partners, along with existing investors such as Founders Fund, Lux Capital, Microsoft’s venture fund, and Marlinspike Partners.

Armada specializes in modular AI data centers located in movable pods and shipping containers.

The startup plans to use the funding to increase production, enhance research, and develop additional models.
