Microsoft announced a US$17.5 billion investment in India over the next four years to expand its cloud and AI infrastructure, skilling programs, and operations.

The company said the new datacenter in Hyderabad will go live by mid-2026, making it its largest hyperscale presence in India.

Microsoft, which employs over 22,000 people in the country, also plans to double its skilling commitment, aiming to train 20 million Indians in AI skills by 2030.

The company will integrate AI capabilities into India’s e-Shram and National Career Service platforms, targeting benefits for over 310 million informal workers.

Microsoft introduced Sovereign Public Cloud and Sovereign Private Cloud solutions to address digital sovereignty needs for Indian organizations.

The company said Microsoft 365 Copilot will begin in-country data processing in India by the end of 2025.
