Microsoft rolls out AI updates in Windows 11 as Windows 10 ends
Microsoft will roll out new Copilot AI features to all Windows 11 PCs in the coming months, expanding access beyond its Copilot+ line.
The updates include voice interaction, allowing users to activate the assistant by saying “Hey, Copilot,” and Copilot Vision, which lets the AI understand and respond to on-screen context.
Copilot Actions, which can perform tasks within apps or the operating system based on natural language commands, will also be available to general Windows 11 users for the first time.
These features were previously limited to enterprise customers or PCs with advanced hardware.
Microsoft said the new tools work with both voice and text prompts, and can be used across various apps, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Some advanced features, such as Click to Do and faster on-device processing, will remain exclusive to Copilot+ PCs with dedicated neural processing units.
The broader rollout follows the end of Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Copilot Vision now on all Windows 11 as cloud use raises enterprise governance questions
- Copilot Vision is now available on all Windows 11 machines 1, and in Microsoft Edge (Microsoft’s web browser) it sends browsing data to the cloud for analysis, while Microsoft has not explained the operating system (OS) level Vision experience on PCs without a neural processing unit (NPU) 2.
- After an Edge Vision session ends, Microsoft deletes your voice data and shared context, while keeping only Copilot replies to improve safety systems 2. The sources do not specify retention during a session or the exact screen or page data sent 2. Personal account privacy controls in Microsoft’s Copilot Privacy Controls article do not apply to Microsoft 365 Copilot when you sign in with a work or school account using Entra ID (Microsoft’s cloud identity service) 3. Enterprises need clear defaults on opt in status and audit trails, plus policy options to reduce exposure during screen sharing.
Developers get Microsoft 365 Copilot connectors as Windows 11 adds agent like (agentic) Copilot Actions
- The Copilot connectors software development kit (SDK) lets teams build connectors that pull line of business data into Microsoft Graph, the API that links data across Microsoft 365, with over 100 prebuilt connectors for Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Google services 45. It supports several languages, and it includes gRPC contracts, a connector agent, plus test tools 4. You can create connections in the Microsoft 365 admin center, define schemas with semantic labels, and ingest external items with access controls 6. Windows 11 is also previewing Copilot Actions for agent like (agentic) local actions with natural language 1.
- Business to business (B2B) software vendors can ship certified connectors or Action packs as a route to market. System integrators and managed service providers can add governance, robotic process automation workflows, or compliance tools on top of Actions for regulated buyers.
