Microsoft Q4 profit jumps 31% on cloud growth
Microsoft said on July 29 that revenue for the quarter ended June 30 rose 18% from a year earlier to US$90 billion, while net income climbed 31% to US$35.8 billion.
Results were helped by cloud growth and a US$3.2 billion gain from its Anthropic stake.
Intelligent Cloud revenue increased 32% to US$39.3 billion, and Azure and other cloud services revenue rose 43%.
Productivity and Business Processes revenue grew 14% to US$37.8 billion, while More Personal Computing revenue fell 4% to US$12.9 billion.
The Anthropic benefit appeared to be a one-off investment gain, rather than operating profit.
Microsoft described it as a gain from its stake and separately records such equity investment effects outside segment operating income.
Microsoft also said Azure annual revenue had passed US$100 billion, a milestone because the company has historically not broken out Azure revenue in absolute dollars.
It added that Microsoft 365 Copilot had reached more than 30 million paid seats, up from 15 million in January 2026.
It also said capital spending should top US$50 billion in the quarter as it expands AI datacenter capacity, while expecting the next fiscal year to remain cash-flow positive.
