The funding will be shared among several media outlets such as The Seattle Times and The Minnesota Star Tribune.

The grants will enable these organizations to employ AI fellows to explore the use of AI technology in areas like analysis and audience engagement.

The announcement comes amid ongoing copyright lawsuits involving Microsoft, OpenAI, and other media entities including The New York Times and The Intercept.
