Microsoft has laid off 830 employees in Washington state as part of a broader plan to cut 9,000 jobs.

The layoffs affected various roles, including game designers, engineers, and legal staff, according to a document submitted to state employment officials.

The cuts included 17 cloud solution architects, 16 customer success account managers, and 28 sales strategy positions.

Additionally, one government affairs worker, several individuals in Microsoft Research, 10 hardware engineers, and six lawyers were also impacted.

The company attributed the layoffs to efforts to reduce redundancies and encourage the adoption of new technologies, as reported by a source speaking anonymously to CNBC.

CEO Satya Nadella has not publicly commented on the layoffs.

Microsoft has not provided further details about the job cuts in Washington.
