Ralf Groene, the former head of design for Windows and devices at Microsoft, has accepted a new position at Amazon.

He will lead the design for Amazon’s devices and services business, working alongside former colleague Panos Panay, who joined Amazon in 2023.

Groene was instrumental in developing Microsoft’s Surface product line, including the launch of the original Surface tablet in 2012.

Groene’s hiring at Amazon is part of a broader trend, with several former Microsoft employees transitioning to the company.
