Microsoft expands clean energy deals with Japan’s Shizen

Microsoft has signed three new solar power purchase agreements with Japan-based renewable energy developer Shizen Energy.

The deals bring Microsoft’s total renewable energy commitment with Shizen to 100 megawatts.

The projects are located in Kyushu and Chugoku, with one already operating and two under construction.

Microsoft first partnered with Shizen in 2023, as more global tech companies secure renewable energy to cut supply chain emissions.

Shizen, founded in 2011, has developed 1.2 gigawatts of projects worldwide and recently signed a deal with Google in Japan.
