Microsoft adds personalization to its AI helper tool

Microsoft plans to enhance its Copilot digital assistant by allowing users to personalize its functionality.

The new features will let Copilot remember user preferences, like favorite foods or past activities, for future interactions. Users will have the option to control what information Copilot retains or to disable personalization altogether.

These updates will roll out in the coming months, following similar moves by competitors like Google, OpenAI, and Amazon.

The announcement was made at Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington, during the company’s 50th anniversary.

Mustafa Suleyman, head of Microsoft’s consumer AI division and co-founder of DeepMind, emphasized the importance of adapting AI to user needs.

This move is part of Microsoft’s broader strategy to grow its AI tools under the Copilot brand. It aims to boost its position in the competitive AI market alongside rivals like Alphabet and Amazon.
