Micron outlook lifts SK hynix, Samsung shares

South Korean chip stocks rose in Seoul on June 25 after Micron beat quarterly estimates and forecast stronger sales, lifting expectations that demand for AI-related memory chips will stay strong.

SK hynix climbed as much as 11.6%, while Samsung Electronics rose 6.2% and the benchmark KOSPI gained 5.3%.

The rally followed Micron’s statement that customers had committed US$22 billion to secure memory chip supply.

Micron also said it was more than sold out of AI memory and expected demand to remain above supply for the foreseeable future.

The move also followed SK hynix’s June 24 announcement of plans for a US ADR listing in 2026 to broaden its investor base, though the size and timing have not been decided.

The company held 62% of the high-bandwidth memory (HBM) market in Q2 2025, compared with Samsung’s 17%.
