Micron, Ford sign long-term memory supply deal

Micron Technology, a US memory and storage chipmaker, and Ford Motor said on July 6 that they had signed a long-term customer agreement to strengthen memory and storage supply for Ford’s next-generation vehicles.

The companies said the deal covered next-generation vehicle production and long-lifecycle automotive programs.

They did not disclose the duration, volume, pricing, specific chip types, or platform details in the announcement.

The pact follows Micron’s earlier agreement with General Motors, which covered low-power dynamic random-access memory, NOR, and universal flash storage NAND products, as well as future memory collaboration for next-generation vehicle platforms.

Micron also linked the Ford deal to manufacturing in the US.

The chipmaker said qualified 1-alpha DRAM production at its Manassas, Virginia fab is expected by the end of 2026, and that the agreement is supported by its expansion of advanced DRAM production there for automotive customers.

The agreement comes as vehicles use more memory chips and DRAM prices have risen about 70% since December amid AI data center demand.

Micron said the Ford pact was one of 16 strategic customer agreements discussed on its fiscal third-quarter 2026 call.
