MetaMask launches stablecoin Money Account
Crypto wallet MetaMask launched a self-custodial Money Account on the Monad blockchain that combines stablecoin yield, payments, and trading.
The account uses mUSD, a wallet-native stablecoin issued by Bridge, a payments infrastructure company owned by Stripe, and backed 1:1 by US cash and short-duration Treasuries.
Users who opt in can earn up to 4% variable annual percentage yield through automatic allocation to decentralised lending protocols, including Morpho.
MetaMask parent Consensys said it planned integrations with Aave.
Consensys said users can also spend balances through the MetaMask Card at merchants that accept Mastercard and use the funds for swaps, perpetual futures, and prediction markets without extra transfers.
Monad describes itself as an Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible blockchain built for scale.
The launch also comes as stablecoin rules in the US evolve.
The company has pointed to the GENIUS Act, which would set reserve standards and bar issuers from paying interest directly to holders.
Similar wallet, card, and yield bundles already exist, while card networks are promoting stablecoin-linked payments.
