Meta to meet Indonesian ministry over child protection rules

Meta said it has approval to meet Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs next week after asking for more time to discuss its plans regarding PP Tunas, a child protection rule for electronic system operators.

The request came after Komdigi sent Meta a second summons after assessing the company had not met provisions in the regulation and had not complied with an earlier summons to undergo an examination, Meta said. Meta owns Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.

Komdigi also sent a second summons to Google, as owner of YouTube, after both companies missed an earlier examination, and a 2026 ministerial rule allows penalties including warnings, temporary access suspension, and access termination.
