Questions to press as Meta exits Workrooms and focuses on mobile

• Watch Meta close Horizon Workrooms (its virtual collaboration app) on February 16, 2026. It will stop selling commercial Quest Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) and Meta Horizon managed services on February 20, 2026. Use these moves to judge whether it is leaving enterprise VR or narrowing scope.
• Meta Horizon managed services licenses turn free after February 16, 2026. Existing customers keep access until January 4, 2030. This looks like maintenance mode.
• Meta recommends Arthur (an enterprise VR meeting platform), Microsoft Teams or Zoom Workplace. All Workrooms data will be deleted at shutdown on February 16, 2026. Assess switching costs and data portability.
• Layoffs hit roughly 10% of Reality Labs (over 1,000 jobs) with multiple VR studios closing. Meta also ended future development on Supernatural (a VR fitness app). That could reduce content that helps enterprise adoption.

• Channel partners plus Managed Service Providers (MSPs) can offer support bundles through January 4, 2030. Licenses become free after February 16, 2026.
• Mobile collaboration startups can build mobile first 3D spaces that fit Meta’s plan to move Horizon experiences and AI creator tools to phones.
• VR Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) can extend Meta Quest Remote Desktop workflows. The app will remain available for workgroups that want virtual monitors without full Workrooms.
• Content studios should shift projects to platforms beyond Meta given less first party VR support.
