Meta settles lawsuit with Trump for $25m: sources

Meta Platforms has reached a US$25 million settlement concerning a lawsuit involving former President Donald Trump, as reported by multiple sources.

The settlement includes US$22 million for the creation of Trump’s presidential library, with the rest allocated for legal fees and individual plaintiffs.

The agreement follows Meta’s two-year suspension of Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, with his accounts reinstated in 2023 under stricter guidelines.

Meta and Trump’s legal teams have not commented on the settlement.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg has had past interactions with Trump, but the relationship remains under scrutiny due to this settlement.
