Meta Platforms has announced the hiring of notable Chinese AI experts for its newly established Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL).

CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared details in a memo earlier this week, outlining the lab’s goal to create advanced AI models aimed at developing “personal superintelligence” accessible to everyone.

Of the 11 hires publicly disclosed, seven are from China. They include Bi Shuchao, Chang Huiwen, Lin Ji, Ren Hongyu, Sun Pei, Yu Jiahui, and Zhao Shengjia.

These individuals have backgrounds from prestigious Chinese institutions such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, and the University of Science and Technology of China.

Many have further studies and careers in the United States. The announcement has sparked discussions within China’s tech sector.
