Meta Q4 hits $48.4b revenue amid AI spending scrutiny

Meta Platforms reported fourth-quarter 2024 revenue of US$48.4 billion, exceeding Wall Street’s expectation.

However, the company’s forecasted revenue for the first quarter of 2025, between US$39.5 billion and US$41.8 billion, fell short of analysts’ average estimates.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg reaffirmed Meta’s commitment to AI, stating open-source models should become the global standard.

Meta plans up to US$65 billion in capital expenditures for AI in 2025, with total expenses expected to rise significantly.

Investor concerns persist, as Meta’s Reality Labs continues to report losses despite strong ad revenue growth.

Zuckerberg acknowledged DeepSeek’s AI advancements, suggesting Meta could adopt some of its innovations.
