Meta has launched Muse in the US, a personal AI agent available in a standalone app, on the web, and in WhatsApp. Meta said Muse can handle tasks such as sending emails, booking travel, and filling out forms.

The company said Muse runs on Muse Secure VM, a virtual machine that houses both the agent and a user’s data.

Meta plans to introduce Muse Confidential VM later this year and has described that setup as central to the product’s privacy and security design.

Muse can also make purchases through Link by Stripe, the US-based payments company.

Meta said Shop Pay is planned, along with support for 1Password, the Canada-based password manager. The product is free for most uses, with paid plans for users who want more features.

The launch puts Meta in a consumer AI agent category that OpenAI has already introduced with Operator and announced with a system that can click, type, and navigate apps and websites on a user’s behalf.

It also ties Muse to a broader push in AI commerce.

Stripe has described its payments tools as infrastructure for AI agents, while the Federal Trade Commission has warned AI companies to uphold privacy, security, and confidentiality commitments.
