Meta launches $799 Ray-Ban smart glasses with built-in display

Meta has introduced its first consumer smart glasses with a built-in display, the US$799 Meta Ray-Ban Display, at its developer conference in Menlo Park.

The glasses feature a digital display controlled by hand gestures through an EMG-equipped wristband and will be available in the US starting September 30.

Meta also announced the US$499 Oakley Meta Vanguard smart glasses, designed for athletes, which launch on October 21, and the US$379 Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2), which is now available.

The Oakley Meta Vanguard offers a wraparound design, up to nine hours of battery life, 3K video recording, and integration with Garmin fitness watches.

The Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) provides double the battery life of its predecessor and an upgraded camera.
