The discussions are at an early stage and may not result in a deal, the report said, citing sources familiar with the matter.

Meta employees reportedly proposed fine-tuning Google’s Gemini and Gemma models using Meta’s ad data to improve ad targeting.

Meta and Google compete in online ad and have both invested heavily in AI to boost their ad businesses.

Meta has also explored AI partnerships with Google and OpenAI for features in its chatbot and social media apps, according to earlier reports.
